12/17 Update
Family & Friends Update
Quick recap:
Over the past few weeks, Becke went through extensive testing, including CT scans, a PET-CT, heart ultrasound, brain imaging, and a bone marrow biopsy. The good news is that cancer, stroke, and bone marrow disease were all ruled out. Her central line was found to be stable, and the main focus shifted to correcting nutritional and metabolic imbalances, which have been steadily improving. She was diagnosed with a new condition called MGus, MGUS (Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance) is a condition where a small amount of an abnormal protein is found in the blood. It is not cancer and often causes no symptoms. Many people live with MGUS for years without any problems. Doctors monitor it over time with routine blood tests to make sure it doesn’t change.
The BEST NEWS;
Becke has been released from the hospital and spent the weekend at home (Yes we are late updating you), catching up on some very much needed rest and sleep. followed by 2 follow up Dr. apt this week.
⸻
Current plan
• Her nutritional and metabolic labs are still being monitored closely
• These will be managed at home with TPN and guidance from her nutrition team
• She has a few follow-up appointments scheduled
Most importantly:
• She has been fever-free
• No more vomiting
• Swelling has significantly improved
Now it’s about continuing to get her labs back to normal and enjoying Christmas at home together.
⸻
