12/9 Update
We wanted to share an easy-to-follow recap of Becke’s latest medical updates and how she’s doing.
1. No cancer on the PET-CT
The PET-CT showed no tumors and no signs of cancer, which is a major relief.
2. Brain scan is clear of tumors or stroke
The brain imaging did not show any tumors or any confirmed stroke.
There is one small spot that suggests she may have had a brief lack of oxygen at some point in the past, but:
It is not a sign of an active problem
It is not dangerous
And most importantly, she has no cognitive or functional impairments
Given her long and complex medical history, the doctors are not concerned about this finding.
3. Bone marrow biopsy is negative
Her bone marrow biopsy came back negative for Leukemia and negative for Bone Cancer.
This rules out several serious conditions.
4. Central line is stable
Her central line is not infected, not damaged, and does not need to be replaced.
This allowed the medical team to focus on correcting her other medical issues.
5. Nutrition and lab values are improving
She had several nutritional and metabolic levels that were out of range (albumin, sodium, potassium, calcium, hemoglobin, etc.), but the great news is:
Her nutrition is trending upward
Her albumin level is improving, which helps keep fluid where it belongs
She has already lost most of the water weight
The remaining swelling should continue to improve as her labs stabilize
Her energy and overall labs are slowly moving in the right direction
6. Overall outlook
The major concerns—cancer, stroke, and bone marrow disease—have all been ruled out.
With her labs improving, swelling decreasing, and no new alarming findings, things are finally looking very positive.
We are now hopeful that she may be able to come home in time for Christmas.
Please continue to keep Becke in your thoughts and prayers.
We are deeply grateful for everyone who has texted, called, and checked in. Your support means more than you know.
We’ll continue to update everyone as we learn more.
